WELCOME TO VONA

The VONA Voices Workshop is dedicated to nurturing developing writers of color. Held at the University of San Francisco each summer, writers come from around the country and around the globe to work with renowned writers of color. Co-sponsoring VONA on the USF campus are the MFA in Writing Program at University of San Francisco and the School of Education.

Thank you VONA Community for Ten Fantastic years of commitment to Writers of Color. We look forward to many more. Summer 2009 was packed with excitement and good memories. Eleven great workshops, two great faculty readings and our first
all VONA dance party. Great things are ahead for our Voices Workshops. Keep your eye on the website--VONA love is strong!

The VONA/VOICES Summer Workshop is co sponsored by the MFA in Writing Program and the English Department at the University of San Francisco.

VONA Voices Writing Workshop 2010  Sets New Records, Impacts More lives...here's what some of this summer's writers have to say:

“I felt nurtured and encouraged as a writer of color. My work was looked at and responded to for the writing first and my skin color second.“

“The environment feels like everything a family should be--supportive and nurturing, yet challenging its members to be the best they can be.

“By hiring established and renowned writers of color as instructors, VONA does an excellent job at nurturing emerging writers in the traditions of our people.”
