Welcome to the VONA Voices Workshop. We are a special gathering of writers who spend 1-2 weeks working with authors and writers of color. This workshop honors the literary traditions of heritage and culture and promotes the styles, voices, forms and concerns of writers of color and their connections to the literary world. Held on the campus of University of San Francisco, the Voices Workshop creates an intimate and interactive community with an atmosphere of sharing and engaging. |

" I had a mind-blowing experience and really became aware of how important telling your story is.." ---Novel student, 2006 |

History of VONA Founders: Director, Diem Jones and Faculty Members Junot Diaz and Elmaz Abinader along with educator Victor Diaz brought the Voices Workshop to the University of San Francisco campus. Once part of the Hurston-Wright Writers Week, VONA continues to offer support and development to writers-of-color. Our celebrated faculty engages with the writers in intimate workshop settings, in one-on-one sessions and through afternoon seminars. VONA is the ultimate community for writers-of-color who are serious about their commitment to their work. |
