| I am deeply grateful to the VONA experience. Of course, I know intellectually the challenges of being other in the mainstream, and how tiring it can be to feel, always, the pull of "the struggle"; but WOW, I never knew how freeing it is to be cloistered in the embrace of so many beautiful, artists, so many nurturing souls, so many open-hearted colored folk! I do not believe the overwhelming sense of community at VONA has happened by accident...you all are magic makers! Participant 2008 |
